Judah Augustine’s Baby Shower: Rustic Woodland Animals Theme

I had the honor of helping host my beautiful bestie’s baby shower. And man, I must say– I just loved the theme! It was such a joy to help put it all together. We stayed true to his nursery’s style, so the theme consisted of rustic woodland animals, and a few little hipster flairs here and there. And oh. my. gosh. Little boy stuff is just the cutest!

Judah Augustine, you are an answer to prayer and I just can’t wait to meet you! Thank you for making my bestie a momma bear!

(And hopefully someday marry my Finnley Haven?) :) We love you!

DIY: White + Gold Metallic Nightstand

DIY: WHITE + GOLD METALLIC NIGHTSTAND | I loved the rustic/metallic/restoration hardware type look, but didn't want to spend a fortune. I gave up on buying the nightstand I envisioned and finally just experimented until I had the finish I was looking for. I LOVE how this little project turned out! I hope you enjoy my do-it-yourself instructions. You can use this finish for any wooden surface (I think a coffee table would be adorbs!) rachelaz.com

It all started when I decided that my daughter, Finnley’s Room needed something a little different. I loved the rustic/metallic/restoration hardware type look, but didn’t want to spend a fortune. I gave up on buying the nightstand I envisioned and finally just experimented until I had the finish I was looking for. I LOVE how this little project turned out! I hope you enjoy my do-it-yourself instructions. You can use this finish for any wooden surface (I think a coffee table would be adorbs!) Good luck!

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Wipe down the nightstand to ensure it’s dust free, then unscrew the original knobs.

2. Lightly spray paint the nightstand with your metallic. Don’t worry about making it perfectly even because it won’t be the only layer of paint.

3. After your metallic has dried, use your coarse brush to apply a thin layer of white paint, with all the strokes going in the same direction on each side. Make sure you apply it very lightly so you get that nice distressed finish.

4. After your white layer has dried, use your sand paper/sanding mouse. Each pass should be going in the same direction as the previous. Make sure you don’t over sand it, you want to make it look weathered, but don’t sand past your metallic layer.
