We’re absolutely obsessed with our customized baby name blankets from Audrey’s Bear. One of our NICU Momma Must-Haves, we used these blankets to personalize Finnley Haven’s little incubator while she was in the hospital. Now that she’s home, we use the same blankets every day. We literally get stopped all the time when people realize it’s not just some cute brand on a blanket, but in fact my daughter’s name.

My friend, Rachel Quarnberg (a devoted momma and army wifey) personally designs each blanket. They’ve been a huge hit for my expecting girlfriends, and have become my go-to baby shower gift.

You choose one custom design with the name, item size, colors and adorable font of your choice. Your design is printed on jersey knit fabric which is very stretchy and perfect for wrapping tightly. She even has adorable little headwraps and hats! They’re the best price, and super affordable at only $25-75/per blanket.

DIY: White + Gold Metallic Nightstand

DIY: WHITE + GOLD METALLIC NIGHTSTAND | I loved the rustic/metallic/restoration hardware type look, but didn't want to spend a fortune. I gave up on buying the nightstand I envisioned and finally just experimented until I had the finish I was looking for. I LOVE how this little project turned out! I hope you enjoy my do-it-yourself instructions. You can use this finish for any wooden surface (I think a coffee table would be adorbs!) rachelaz.com

It all started when I decided that my daughter, Finnley’s Room needed something a little different. I loved the rustic/metallic/restoration hardware type look, but didn’t want to spend a fortune. I gave up on buying the nightstand I envisioned and finally just experimented until I had the finish I was looking for. I LOVE how this little project turned out! I hope you enjoy my do-it-yourself instructions. You can use this finish for any wooden surface (I think a coffee table would be adorbs!) Good luck!

2. Lightly spray paint the nightstand with your metallic. Don’t worry about making it perfectly even because it won’t be the only layer of paint.

3. After your metallic has dried, use your coarse brush to apply a thin layer of white paint, with all the strokes going in the same direction on each side. Make sure you apply it very lightly so you get that nice distressed finish.

4. After your white layer has dried, use your sand paper/sanding mouse. Each pass should be going in the same direction as the previous. Make sure you don’t over sand it, you want to make it look weathered, but don’t sand past your metallic layer.

2015: All Things Lovely

Rachelaz.com

Twenty-fourteen was a wonderful, but it’s a new year and I love it already.  We’re new parents, we own our own little business, and I’m transitioning into becoming a stay-at-home momma. So I’ve decided to broaden my scopes, challenge myself, draw up a few plans, and set some new goals.

I’m going to give this “lifestyle blog” thing a shot.

So, I hope you enjoy my journey as I transform this space– where I’ll be posting the random tidbits of my life. Such as what God’s doing in our hearts; my foodie finds, the cooking fails; what I’m learning; the fashion my little family is wearing; what I’m reading; and stuff our small company is building.

Thanks for taggin’ along for the ride!

xoxo,
